Full Membership
FULL MEMBERSHIP
Full membership of IPA shall be open to any Ijaw son or daughter of 21years and above who is interested in helping the Assembly to achieve its aims and willing to abide by the rules of IPA and prepared to serve the Ijaw nation and shall be by registration and identified by Membership Card.
Financial Membership
FINANCIAL MEMBERSHIP
a) Every member is required to pay a non refundable fee Registration fee of N5,000 and a yearly Subscription of N12,000 of N1,000 monthly.
b) A member is entitled to the rights and privileges of membership in the IPA only when he/she is upto- date in the payment of membership dues: registration and subscription and any other special levies determined by the Executive Management.
c) All members shall be required to sign a “Declaration of Membership” Statement.
d) By registration and subscription every member undertakes to abide by the Constitution and bye Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct.
Honorary Membership
HONORARY MEMBERSHIP
a) Such persons as shall be appointed by the Executive Committee after consultation with the Board of Trustees provided persons so nominated shall:
b) Have contributed financially to the Assembly
c) Aligned with the Ijaw Cause
d) Supports the Objectives of the Assembly
e) Honorable Members will have full rights with Financial Members except that they will not vote or stand for elections or pay an annual subscription.
Admission Procedure
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
a) Any intending member shall be sponsored by two existing members who are fully upto-date in membership requirement endorsing a written Application for membership by the intending member. The Application shall include a declaration by the Applicant of his commitment to and endorsement of the purposes and the objectives of IPA.
b) Application for Membership shall be on the Form obtained from the Secretariat of the Assembly.
c) The Applicant shall input his/her vital information as required
d) Admission shall be conditional and effective only upon the Applicants payment of dues and other levies.
e) Every member shall be bound by this constitution and rules for the time being or as shall come into effect from time to time for the order and good administration of the Assembly and shall indemnify the Assembly and the Trustees against any loss, injury accident, untoward behavior involving the Assembly activity
f) The Management Committee shall have the power to refuse membership to an applicant where it is considered such membership would be detrimental to the aims, purposes or activities of the Assembly. In the event of a rejection, the Applicant shall not be precluded from reapplying after due compliance with reasons for the rejection of the initial application. The compliance here does not guarantee automatic admission. It shall be subject to the discretion of the Management.
a) Participate in all activities of IPA
b) Have the right to use the facilities of IPA
c) Have a right to vote and be voted for
d) Have a right to benefit from programmes of IPA
a) Any member including Honorary Member may resign his/her membership by giving to the Secretary written Notice to that effect.
b) The Management Committee may by resolution passed at a meeting thereof terminate or suspend the membership of any members if in its opinion his/her conduct is prejudicial to the interest and object of the Assembly PROVIDED THAT the individual member shall have the right to be heard by the Executive Management Committee before the final decision is made.
As Ijaws we have found ourselves under yoke, be it in the Federal Government or State Governments of Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Edo, Delta and Ondo.
