The Se-Die Ceremony, held on Saturday, 18th November 2023, at the esteemed King Amachree Hall in Buguma, witnessed a gathering of dignitaries, including prominent figures from across the Kalabari Kingdom and Asari-Toru Local Government Area. Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, known as the Supreme Leader and Golden Leopard, was honored by the presence of the who’s who in a celebration befitting his new status.

A delegation from INDG, led by its publicity secretary, Tom Inko-Tariah, participated in large numbers to pay homage to a man who has been a stalwart in the Ijaw Struggle for decades. The atmosphere was charged with joy and camaraderie, marking one of the most significant fanfare events of the year in Buguma City and Obuama (Harry’s Town), his ancestral home in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari, in reflecting on the overwhelming support from Ijaw Youths, shared that the call for him to assume the title of Edi-Abali began in 2004. After enduring years of pressure and considering the unanimous belief among a large section of his kinsmen that he was well-suited for the esteemed position, he embraced the role in 2007.

The journey to this pinnacle of traditional leadership spanned 16 years, with Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari navigating challenges and fulfilling all customary and traditional processes of the grand installation. The finalization of this revered position has been signed, sealed, and delivered to the glory of God and the spirits of his ancestors.

INDG celebrates this historic moment, acknowledging Alhaji Mujahid Dokubo Asari’s enduring commitment to the Ijaw cause and the profound significance of his installation as Inabio-Obuari II. His elevation stands as a testament to his leadership, resilience, and the rich cultural heritage of the Kalabari Kingdom.
